Once again, I've been missing in action. I have all these thoughts, ideas and pictures yet every tome I've opened my blog I just click it off. Why? I hate how it looks. I mean, I *really hate it. I know it sounds stupid but I'm a very sensory-driven person. I'm not terribly driven or affected by raw emotion - it annoys me, actually - but I respond emotionally to visual things, scents, the feel of items. And I *hate* how my blog looks. That said, it's going to be changing. If nothing else, I'll put it back as it was but I know exactly what I want in my head and since I can't find it, I'll have to learn to make it. *dusts off the old HTML skills*
Moving along to other topics, I've got a new cooking post in the works, as well as a detailed post on why the new health care reform bill can't work. That's a topic I've decided to try to keep off Daisy, since I think I tend to offend people and, sadly, many people won't defend their opinions. They just get very quiet and pissy, which makes for dreadful silence and I feel like a bull in a china shop. I don't get it...it you believe in something, stand up for it and do it logically. If you can't logically defend or explain it, maybe you need to wonder why that is. Anyway, I have all this stuff in my head and no place I like to put it so some work around here is in order this weekend.
Also in the works are some pictures of the outside of my house. Overall, it's okay-looking for what it is and we're in the midst of repainting it the same color I had it painted 7 years ago - khaki with white trim. I still like it, especially since I have red brick accents, but it takes a beating in our weather so it's faded and tired now. it will look fresh with the repainting but since it's pushing 50 now, it's got a few weird issues with prominent wires and such I could use some ideas on disguising. I also have the backyard from hell coupled with the neighbor from hell who shares a common back fence with me and I need ideas on that, too. See, I told you...I have all this stuff in my head. I'm gonna burst. ;-)
Let's see...what else? Well, for the first time in my adult life, I'm sick of cats. Seriously. All four are having issues and I've cleaned up more cat shit, vomit, gunk and piss in the last 48 hours than I have in all of my cat-owning years combined. At least it surely does feel like it. I feel like I've done nothing but clean up nastiness and still have it feel nasty and I'm so over it, I can't tell you. I'm tired to death of scooping, spraying, scrubbing, rubbing, laundering and mopping up after fucking cats. I don't know how people cope when they have multiple children who are sick because I know I could cheerfully bash a couple of cats over the head with my remote and that's kind of frowned upon with children.
My son just shaved his eyebrows off for a photo shoot. He now looks like a freaking meth-head. I'm so proud...only not. I'm just sarcastic and aggravated. My God, I'm having flashbacks to my mom and her "what will the neighbors think?" days.
Anyway, that's my life. Fun times.
Don't give up on me, though...I'll get this mess of a place sorted out and be back!

Hey there!
Sorry your in a funk. I would love to see a pic of the shaved eyebrows. What was the reason for that?
I hear you on the cats. I don't miss that mess at all. Having 3 kids is enough work!
I too would love to see the shaved eyebrows. Just found out from my teenagers that's it's the 'in thing' to shave off other hair as well...thank goodness I will NEVER have to see THAT! ;)
Hmmm...I would be thrilled to have a blog layout like yours. However, for you? You are right, it is not up to your artistic achievements and *standards. So, shoo off the cats...set up a nice kitty condo in the shed...get all that feline goo out of your head to clear the path for your artistic side.
Don't the youngins know that shaving their eyebrows is so...well...old news. Sigh. And on the flip side of it, doesn't it just piss you off when our kids do things that make us say stuff that we vowed we would never say when young? Like, "what will the neighbors think" or "because I said so"...even if they are great kids at heart.
Now post up your views on the Health Care Reform bill. I am scrambling to read the bill. They have it so scrambled it makes my head spin. Since I am in the health care industry, I want reform, but reform that makes sense and does not leave us with big government oversight and regulation and only a select group of individuals or businesses paying through the nose for all the others to get coverage.
I need a new layout too - I'm not happy with mine - well I like it but it is getting stale.
I am also sure that Jake will do a lot more questionable things in his lifetime, eyebrows might grow back but he has a wonderful mom who accepts that and I think that is awesome.
On the cat thing - I'm sorry. My cat pukes when she eats plants - if I happen to have a live one inside or flowers - or she will eat balloon string and puke - I HATE it, that and hairballs. Uggghhh!
As far as health care - I've made mention of it - and I am the first to admit - I am not real political. I just don't have time to read up on everyone and everything that they stand for and what each bill is for - and I like to be well informed. I know this is something that I need to educate myself on.
I do think it is asinine to mandate that everyone has health insurance - and then fine those who don't. I can't afford health insurance for myself - I do purchase it for LM - but if you fine me - then that is more money that I won't have...ya know?
Hope you are having a good weekend.
On the health care reform - I agree with most of what I've read that you've said about it, AP, so there's a LOT I don't like. I do think reform is needed - but I don't think this is the way. And how can this law be enforced anyway? I just don't know enough about it yet either. Will look forward to your post about it.
I love the way you write about Jake. I love how much you love him.
I want to hear you views. I am for small government and think this new law is full of problems. Considering the bill is 2700 pages or so, it will take awhile to read up on it. There was a lot of pork added as well, and that always makes my blood boil. That is not what the founding fathers intended. I think a lot of what is done by Congress is unconstitutional. We are not really represented like we're supposed to be. Lobbyists for the interests of the rich and elite are.
What do you think of the tea party movement? Do you think citizens can do anything at this point to turn this around?
Thanks, y'all and I'll see if I can get a picture of the eyebrowless kid. :-)
Christy, you said exactly what I feel, as well. The Tea Party Movement? It's good. It's always good to have organized dissent when things are wrong but I hate how involved Palin is becoming with it. I cannot stand her and it sours me on it all, honestly. As for what we can do to turn it around? I'm afraid we're stuck now, at least until 2012.
The Tea Party movement is the wrong way to go about making a difference. IMO, of course.
Talk about uneducated blow hards!
I support informed voters. Who make claims that can be supported with facts.
Kaytie, you're right...it's not "me". I'm working on getting it fixed now. Every time I open it up, I feel like I'm in a stranger's home.
CK, I have to disagree about the Tea Party. The basis behind it is sound, quite educated and informed and the perfect way to begin making a difference. It's the beginning of what the originators hope to be a revolution and that is the only thing that ever makes a real difference in a society fraught with serious issues - revolution. That said, it is sadly being joined by a bunch of idiots with a "shoot 'em up" mentality and, as in any group, the most vocal ones get the most attention and these nuts are the most vocal. It lends an air of silliness to the whole movement, Palin included in that silliness. What the Tea Party needs is to have some of their better, well-respected and more well-known supporters become more vocal and in a non-threatening manner.
AP,
Who are those well-respected Tea Party supporters - I'd like to do some reading about them.
CK, read up on Graham Makohoniuk, Karl Denninger, Brendan Steinhauser and just google around for more. Few names will be recognized (other than Palin's *eyeroll*). Bear in mind, "well-respected" is a non-judgmental call and not based on agreement with ideology. Just because you and other liberals may not respect them doesn't mean they aren't well-respected. "Well-respected" also doesn't mean "well-known." I'm the first to say, for example, that Harry Reid is well-respected *and well-known, even though I disagree with him on the issues at hand.
Hey AP,
Yes, I can and do respect people with whom I disagree.
Can you tell me more about how you're defining "well-respected".
Sure, but I think it's the normal way anyone would define it...people who are decent, contributing members of society, personally responsible, well-read and thoughtful.
